Refund Policy

Last Updated: 14 July 2025

At Saints of Steel, each sculpture we produce is handcrafted with the utmost care and is either custom-made for a client or part of a limited edition. Our refund policy is designed to protect the integrity of our artistic process while aligning with the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) of South Africa.

1. Commissioned Artwork

Commissioned sculptures are created to your specifications following a private moulding session. As such, they fall under Section 20(3)(c) of the CPA, which excludes returns or refunds for goods that are:

  • Custom-made or specifically altered,

  • Of a personal nature and not suitable for return.

Therefore, all commissioned pieces are non-refundable once the moulding session has been completed or production has begun. This includes cancellations after your moulding appointment or changes of mind after the artwork is underway.

2. Limited Edition and Open Collection Sculptures

Purchases from our Limited Edition or Open Collection may be exchanged or returned only under the following conditions:

  • The sculpture arrives damaged due to transit and the issue is reported to us in writing within 48 hours of delivery, including photos of the damage.

  • The sculpture received is significantly different from what was ordered. It varies noticeably in size, weight, and overall appearance. While we understand and expect minor variations in the placement of the nuts due to the handmade nature of each piece, these differences should still align with the mould shown. In this case, however, the deviations go well beyond acceptable artistic variation and do not match the specifications originally provided.

In such cases, we will either repair the piece, replace it if stock permits, or issue a store credit. Refunds are not provided, except in cases where the Consumer Protection Act obliges us to do so (e.g. if the product is defective and cannot be replaced or repaired within a reasonable period).

3. Shipping and Return Costs

  • All shipping, delivery, and return costs are the responsibility of the client.

  • We strongly recommend using insured and trackable courier services, as we cannot accept responsibility for return items lost or damaged in transit.

4. Pre-Order Deposits and Booking Fees

Deposits and booking fees (such as the R5,000 moulding session fee) are non-refundable, as they cover material preparation and session allocation.

5. Exchanges

We do not offer direct exchanges for commissioned work. For catalogue pieces (e.g. busts or open collection items), an exchange may be approved at our discretion if the request is made within 7 days of delivery, and the item is returned unused and undamaged.
